Stone That Makes a Statement
From countertops to fireplaces to backsplashes, natural stone can be used in so many different applications. This month, I’m rounding up some of my favorite interiors that feature stone that is bold, beautiful, and definitely a statement. These interiors inspire me to push the boundaries and embrace the movement and color found in nature. The bathroom vanity above by Becca Interiors is to die for. I love the moodiness of the marble and the edge detail at the top and bottom is such a pretty and subtle design detail. GORGEOUS!
To me, this countertop hits all the right notes. Every element in this bathroom is simple, yet intentional. The stone is the star of the show and ties together all the colors and textures of the tile, cabinetry, and plumbing fixtures. I’m also loving the little bits of green that are peaking through.
This floating vanity just says drama and luxury. I love the strong veining of this stone and think it is perfect for a powder bathroom. The key is letting the stone be the focal point here and the other elements, such as the wood panels and wallpaper, just add to the overall richness of the space. While a statement stone may not be a fit for all design styles, areas like a powder bath are great spaces to push the envelope on a smaller scale.
I’m someone one who loves a good neutral, but I can’t deny the beauty of this green floating vanity. Now THAT is a statement. When I bring color into a space, I’m thinking of how my client is going to feel in the space. This bathroom feels like a spa oasis and the green stone has the most soothing watery tones. Don’t be afraid of color. Instead, think about how to incorporate color with intention and then keep the rest simple, as to not compete with the statement piece.
Classic & Gorgeous. I will always love black and white elements. In kitchens, I love the look of stone instead of tile for a backsplash like in this kitchen designed by Shauna Walton Design. It’s such a clean and continuous look and provides much interest visually. Additionally, I love the use of the stone floating shelf and stone on the front of the island.
This is one of my favorite bathrooms from the group because of the color palette and mix of materials. I love the warmth this interior gives off and feels like a luxury resort somewhere tropical. Sign me up! The stone and wood pair so beautifully and is a great example of the stone being a statement, but doesn’t overpower the rest of the design in any way.
I’m ending this month’s round up of muses on this beautifully dark and moody bathroom by Light and Dwell. I just love the depth and moodiness of this space. My eyes go right to the floating vanity and I can’t get enough of this stone. The movement of the veining almost looks like watercolor- bold but soft.
